Plogue Chipsounds – The VST for oldschool sceners.

You (of course) all remember the very beginning of our home computers. I mean all those great 8 bits machines VCS 2600, Intellivision, Atari 400/800, Commodore Vic20, Colecovision, C64, Nes and so many others.

If you remember well the sounds made by those relics, it looks quite ridiculous nowadays but at the moment if was really astonishing. I even remember having made audio tapes with thousands of those musics (and don’t laugh i’m not the only one).

As an old Atari (and still nowadays) lover (get my Atari remixes and you’ll understand what i mean) this VST plugin is quite a wonderful opportunity to go back 20 years before and giving my musics a fresh new breath. Till now there was another plugin named Quadrasid (which is quite powerful too and has famous users names like Rob Hubbard and Bryan lee) but Chipsounds looks a little bit more powerful and the GUI looks more intuitive.

Those SID sounds were so powerful and so minimalist (square, sine…) but it remembers me my childhood and the days/nights that i spent in front of my computer.

Definitly for me one of the best release of this year. All what you need is a VST host (Logic, Ableton live, renoise…) and that’s it. Welcome back in 1980.

For sure one of my next purchase.
